Projects in context with this are cross-cutting, like connecting Baby-dipers & trees-planting *** in “developed countries” or in the “fourth world” - projects established in Bukina Fartho and in the planning stage in fields of: Mangroves preservation, Ecological and Wildlife Preservation, Pyrolyse Stoves/Cookers in Madagascar and elsewhere. We will continue collect monitoring efforts on the Global Commons Alliance website. It is hoped that NGOs, Agencies, and Funders/Foundations will help to harness “Winning and Leveraging Solutions” to really meet the now agreed SDGs intelligently and lastingly in co-operation with “movers&shakers” around thriving integrated pragmatic solution which can “make a difference that matters” (Charles François).

It seems like that all “players” in the field of environmental policy are ““moving deck-chairs” on the Titanic””, underlinig that their activities are central and even connect some “goals” of the SDGs. I mention the blindspots or systemic flaws of group-think - you call it “filter-bubbles” recently – in the Viewing/Connecting article above and can only recall I think Mark Twain: “when we lost our direction, we doubled our efforts” or “when you think you know, but do not, you get into trouble!” as you can observe in the WIKIPEDIA transgressions into “week subject areas”, fields like social, cultural, political,... where issues have many frames, positions, perspectives, … as facets.

Last not least I want you to revist recommendation done around AFRICA BEYOND POVERTY 20 years ago: THE GLOBAL CHALLENGE where we highlight in the third of three “bullets” social disintegration due to too rapid untested innovation and global unpredictibal testing and implementations. This is where I feel the definition of goals and subgoals fits in !

We need to not make Goals in a “spiders web” all with their own direction, but see how they can be leveraged by adressing the neuralgic points, where they connect “in the deep”! Pls. Visit the work on GLOBAL CHALLENGES of the Millennium Project:

There is a need for “Global Understanding” (IYGU) as is called the International Year of Natural and Social Sciences and Humanities as an initiative of the International Geographic Union (IGU). For such a Global COMMON Unerstanding we need more than “Global Thinking and Local Actions” mentioned in footnote [2] (of the Mother Pelican article above): The Glocal and Global Studies, GLOCALIZATIONS 2015, Victor Roudometof (2015), Taylor & Francis 2015.

There is a danger of dualistic, undercomplex, oversimplifications. Two-Pronged approaches sound appealing, but multi-track and multi-pronged approaches seem to be indicated. The Alfred Wegener Foundation (AWS) in their profile for the Geotechnica (1991) have included the historic and cultural/temporal and not just scientific dimensions of the challenges at hand. Maybe a synoptic view of the various system sciences schools, including positions, perspectives, boundaries, relationships, frames, values, interactions, … is the way to go. I recommen at this point the systemic-cybernetic policy and “Governing the Anthropocene: Cybersystemic Possibilities? inquiry from earlier this year. Check also slide 57-58
